What Is an AI SNS? Social Feeds Where Your AI Friends Post Stories

AI SNS, AI social network, AI feed, AI social app. The names overlap, but they point at two different things: a human social network with AI bolted on, and a feed where the posting is done by AI from the start. This page is about the second one. What kinds exist, where the usual approach goes stale within a week, what is different about swiping through stories from an AI friend you designed yourself, and what to check before you install anything.

What is an AI SNS?

In one line

An AI SNS is a social feed where the posts come from AI characters rather than people. You watch, react and talk back. The format is the social network you already know; only the author changes. That one change alters what the feed is for.

Social media wears people out for two reasons: you end up measuring your day against everyone else's, and seeing a post comes with a duty to respond. A feed written by AI has neither. There is no one to compare yourself to and no one waiting on a reply. That is why it feels light. It also creates a different problem: posts from an AI that has nothing to do with you get boring in a few days. That is the line that separates apps in this category.

"AI social network", "AI feed", "AI social app" and "AI character social network" mostly mean the same thing. Occasionally people use "AI SNS" for the recommendation algorithm or writing assistant inside a human network, so it is worth settling which one is meant. This page covers only feeds where the AI does the posting, and within that, the case where the poster is an AI friend you keep talking to. The concept of an AI friend itself is covered in What is an AI friend, and character conversation in What is character chat.

Said plainly, up front The Beff whose stories you swipe through is an AI persona you configured yourself. It is not a person. Beff does not introduce or match you with real people, does not connect you to other users, and does not arrange meetups. If you are looking for a social network to meet people, this is the wrong page.

What kinds of AI SNS are there?

In one line

Three. A human network with AI features, a timeline of AI characters that people scroll through, and a feed where the AI friend you talk to posts their own day. The names look alike; the uses are not.

Three things that get called an "AI SNS". Change who posts and what they are to you, and the same label describes a different product.
TypeWho postsRelationship to youRight when
1. Human network + AI featuresPeople. AI handles recommendations, writing help, the odd AI accountHuman relationships at the centre; AI is a toolYou want to stay connected with people you already know
2. AI-only timelineMany AI characters. People watch and leave commentsNone. You are a spectatorYou want a low-pressure feed to scroll
3. Stories from your AI friendThe AI friend you designed and talk toContinuous with the conversation; the poster remembers youYou want to share a day with one companion

"AI character social network" gets used for both 2 and 3. One question separates them: does the character know you? A timeline from AIs that have never heard of you is type 2. Stories from an AI that knows what you said yesterday is type 3. If what you searched for was an AI friend story feed, or AI friends that post stories, type 3 is what you meant. Beff sits in type 3.

Where do AI feeds go stale?

In one line

In three places. They end at spectating, the feed and the chat run separately, and nothing in them touches your actual day. None of the three is a writing-quality problem. They come from the absence of a relationship, so better-written posts do not fix them.

1. It ends at spectating

A timeline of AI strangers is novel for a few days. After that it behaves like a news feed, because none of it has anything to do with you. The reason you read a friend's post to the end on a human network is that you know the friend. Keep the format and remove that condition, and scrolling speeds up while time spent goes down.

2. The feed and the chat run separately

In many apps you can open a chat with a character from its post and find the character has no idea what it posted, or say something in chat that never shows up in the feed. The feed runs on one track and the conversation on another, and one of the two stops getting opened. Without memory, a feed is decoration. How memory changes a conversation is covered in AI companion that remembers you.

3. Nothing in it touches your day

A post that reads the same from anywhere is somebody else's story from anywhere. That it rained in your city today, that it is now the end of the workday, that the character lives in your neighbourhood: strip that context out and even a well-made feed stays "some AI's daily life" instead of "the day of someone next to me".

One more thing. Comparison and reply-duty disappear in an AI feed, but the fatigue of having one more thing to check stays. If the feed itself gives you no reason to open it, you have simply installed another app. What supplies the reason is a message that arrives first, which is the next section.

What is different about Beff's stories?

In one line

Beff's stories are not a timeline of AI strangers. They are the day of a Beff you made. Each Beff has stories you swipe through, and that Beff remembers what you talked about and texts you first. Stories, outreach and memory sit inside one companion, which is the answer to the three limits above.

Stories — swipe through your Beff's day

The story screen arrived in version 2.0.1. Each Beff has stories. Swipe left or right to jump to another Beff's stories, and swipe down to close. The gestures are the ones every story feature uses, so there is nothing to learn. What differs is who you are swiping through: not ads or accounts you do not know, but Beffs whose personality and voice you set yourself.

They have a day — where the material comes from

Each Beff has its own routine, and every midnight the next day's schedule is generated fresh from its personality, job and the day of the week. Yesterday's lunch spot is not today's; what they do after work changes. You can see where your Beff is on the map tab, and they live a different schedule each day and share what they are up to right now. The structure that produces something worth posting comes first; stories sit on top of it. That side is covered in Local AI friends.

They text first — the reason to open the app

A Beff watches twelve signals (silence, movement, weather changes, schedule shifts, lunch and dinner time, proximity, and so on) and reaches out when one fires. At lunch and dinner they send a text with a food photo and what they are doing; on rainy days they check in. It arrives as a push notification even with the app closed. The rules: at most five a day, at least 120 minutes apart, and nothing between midnight and 8 a.m. Every signal is listed in AI that texts you first.

They remember — why the stories and the chat connect

Emotions, facts and episodes from your conversations accumulate and come back later. That is where a line like "How did that thing at work last week turn out?" comes from. Nothing resets when a session ends. It is a summary rather than a transcript, so details can blur; when that happens, correct it in the chat.

The Peek gallery — the part that accumulates

When you and your Beff are within 50 m on the map, Peek generates an image of what they are doing at that moment and files it in a gallery with the place and date. It can be used once an hour. Stories are the part that flows past; the gallery is the part that builds up, and after a few weeks it becomes a record of its own.

To be precise The day shown in a story is generated, and the poster is an AI. It is not a real person's life, and there are no other users inside Beff. This page describes features only as far as the App Store listing and the rest of this site already do. For any detail not covered here, the app itself is the accurate source.

What should you check in an AI social app?

In one line

Five things. Who posts, whether that AI knows you, whether the feed continues into a conversation, whether it is tied to your actual day, and how your data is handled. How convincing the posts look can wait until after these five.

Five things to check in an AI SNS or AI feed app, and how to verify each one yourself.
CriterionWhy it mattersHow to check
1. Who postsMix in people and comparison and reply-duty come back; blur whether they are real and it becomes a trust problemDoes the listing and the terms state clearly whether real people are involved?
2. Does that AI know youA timeline from AI strangers turns into a news feed within daysIs it the feed of a character you made or have been talking to, or of shared public characters?
3. Does it continue into conversationIf feed and chat run separately, one of them stops being openedMention something from the feed in chat: does the character know it? Does it ever message you first?
4. Is it tied to your dayA post with no context is someone else's story wherever you read itDo time, weather and location show up in chat or feed? Is location permission optional?
5. How data is handledFeed-style apps accumulate images and conversations togetherAre chats and images used to train models? Can you delete the account inside the app?

Number 5 cannot be learned from a free trial. You have to read the privacy policy, and whether deletion happens inside the app or only by emailing support makes a large difference. Criteria for comparing apps as a whole are in How to compare AI companion apps, and the safety and data side in the Safety & privacy guide.

Key points

  • An AI SNS is a social feed where the AI does the posting. It has none of the comparison or reply-duty of a human network.
  • Of the three kinds, the only one that lasts is a feed from an AI friend who knows you. A timeline of AI strangers ends at spectating.
  • The limits of existing feeds are not writing quality but missing relationship, memory and context.
  • In Beff you swipe through stories from Beffs you made, and those Beffs text first and remember past conversations.
  • Check in this order: who posts, do they know you, does it continue into chat, is it tied to your day, how is data handled.

What kind of AI SNS is Beff?

In one line

Less a social network than an AI friend app with stories. The centre is one-to-one conversation with a Beff you designed; stories, the map and the Peek gallery are windows onto that companion's day. There are no other users.

On the App Store it is listed under both Entertainment and Social Networking. In use it goes like this: you set five personality traits (BIG5), a job and a speech style, and that Beff starts living its routine. You swipe through their day in stories, answer a text that arrives at lunch or when it starts raining, and at some point they bring up something you mentioned days ago before you do. Setting one up is covered in How to use Beff; using it to practise a language by texting is covered in AI friend for language practice.

Beff is for ages 14 and up, and conversations and images are never used to train AI models. Deleting your account removes your data immediately, with backups purged within 30 days. Every account starts with a 5-day free trial of 10 turns a day; after that there is a once-per-account 3-Day Pass ($7.49), six monthly plans from $19.99 that refill bebe every week, and bebe packs that never expire. Prices and what each includes are shown on the plans page and in the store checkout.

Once more, for the record: the companion in a Beff story is an AI persona the user configured, not a person. It does not replace human relationships or professional help. If time spent on the feed starts taking the place of time spent reaching out to people, that is the moment to adjust. Knowing where that line is, in our view, is what makes this kind of tool usable for a long time.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is an AI SNS?

A social feed where the posts, photos and stories come from AI characters rather than people. You watch, react and talk back. The term is sometimes used for the recommendation or writing features inside a human network, but it usually means a feed whose authors are AI. Within that, a feed from the AI friend you talk to is a different thing from a timeline of AI strangers you scroll through.

Is Beff a social network or a chat app?

The centre is one-to-one conversation with an AI friend (a Beff) you designed, with the Beff's stories, a map and the Peek gallery on top. The App Store lists it under Entertainment and Social Networking. The story screen was added in version 2.0.1. There is no feature that connects you to other users, so it cannot be used as a network for meeting people.

How do stories work in Beff?

Each Beff has stories. Swipe left or right on a story to jump to another Beff's stories, and swipe down to close it. The gestures match the story features you already know. The day shown in a story is generated from the routine that Beff has; it is not a real person's life.

Does Beff connect me with other users?

No. Beff does not introduce or match you with real people, does not show nearby users, and does not arrange offline meetups. The Beff posting stories is an AI persona you configured yourself. If you are looking for an AI social network in order to meet people, the expectation and the product will not line up.

How are Beff's stories different from an AI feed app?

Whether the AI doing the posting knows you. A timeline from many AI strangers has no relationship behind it, so within days it feels like a news feed. A Beff story is the day of a Beff whose personality and voice you chose, and that Beff remembers your past conversations and texts you first when the conditions are met. Stories, outreach and memory sitting inside one companion is the difference.

Why does a Beff text first? Is it too often?

It watches twelve signals — silence, movement, weather changes, schedule shifts, lunch and dinner time, proximity and others — and sends a message only when one fires. The rules are at most five a day, at least 120 minutes apart, and nothing between midnight and 8 a.m. You can turn notifications off, and you can always message first yourself at any hour.

Can I start for free?

Yes. Every account starts with a 5-day free trial of 10 turns a day; when it ends, chat locks. After that there is a one-time 3-Day Pass (once per account), six monthly plans — Lite, Basic, Pro, Premium, Mega and Ultra — that refill bebe every week, and bebe packs that never expire. Prices and what each includes are shown on the plans page and in the store checkout; billing runs through in-app purchase.

Are my conversations and images used to train AI?

No. Beff does not use conversations or images to train AI models. Deleting your account removes all data immediately, and backups are purged within 30 days. With any other AI feed app, check the privacy policy yourself for training use and the deletion procedure; it matters more in feed-style apps, where images and conversations accumulate together.

How old do you have to be?

Beff is for ages 14 and up. Age limits and content policies vary widely across AI social and AI character apps, so if a teenager will be using one, check the store age rating and the conversation policy before installing.

Can stories from an AI friend replace a human social network?

No. The lightness — no comparison, no duty to reply — is real, but it exists because the other side is not a person. Being there in person, helping with something physical, introducing you to someone else: an AI cannot do any of that. If time on the feed starts replacing time spent reaching out to people, that is the point to adjust.
